Laugh, Laugh, Laugh!
Proverbs 17: 22 says "A Joyful heart is good medicine".
Why do we laugh? Why does it feel so good, so freeing, so cathartic? I truly believe it is a gift. Why do we like comedies? Why do we crave a joke? Why do we laugh at ridiculous things that happen to people on "America's Funniest Home Videos?" We need it!
Laughter is a necessity. Just like the Bible says, "a joyful heart is good medicine." Just as much as our tears, we need laughter in our lives, in our tough and painful situations and in our relationships. We need to seek out those shows, movies, books, people, and friendships that make us laugh....that make us see the world a little lighter and give us the hope that things can and will get better.
A few nights ago, we had 5 teenage girls over here. They all spent the night. Andy and I were in our room around midnight and all of a sudden from 2 different places came sounds of giggles and laughter. A few were out in the jacuzzi and a couple were in my daughter's room. Andy and I looked at each other and smiled. What an amazing sound laughter is. It's contagious! I knew that in that moment, whatever was going on in my life or any of those girl's lives, they had relief, joy, and a sense of understanding with their friends laughing along with them. Laughter brings us together, gives us hope, and a small sense of what eternity will be like when there is no more pain, no more sorrow.
So, this summer.....find a way to laugh. Make a silly face and take a picture! Play silly jokes on each other, don't take yourself too seriously, tickle, watch comedies, look at old pictures of yourself that make you think "what was I thinking?"....and LAUGH!!!
In this "joy project" many of you have joined me in....find your funny bone!
Trust me, it's the best medicine!
Giggles......Deb :-)
hee hee!
